What this group is about:
--------------------------------------

We're a group to reinforce practice by making it social, competitive, and most importantly, fun.

We have two on-going events. We have a weekly assignment and a size-based assignment. There are also Daily studies, which are on hold for now. The Daily Studies are done as a group, five per week, and follow the same schedule as the Weekly Assignments.
In Weekly Assignments, every Saturday, one person gets to assign a project for the others to work on. The projects are voluntary and due in six days, anytime on the next Friday. This gives up to 48 hours for the assigner to look over the pieces, pick the one they like most, and so that the next person has time to come up with some kind of assignment and post it. If you finish early, you can turn in your work before Friday. *You do not have to be an amazing artist to join. Your artwork doesn't have to be perfect, or finished, to submit. Just put some time and thought into it.*

(WA) If the assigner doesn't care, or doesn't respond by Friday, 11:59 PM (EST or GMT -5); Any of the Mods can step in for them.

(WA) If you don't want to pick the 'best' piece (and who will also the next week's assigner), you can open that week's choosing up to popular vote or to the first volunteer.

If this group gets big enough, we may subdivide into smaller groupings based on skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) or subject (Lineart, Painting, Comics, etc.).

Visual and digital mediums are preferred, but if you want to draw something on paper and scan it, or write a short story, then feel free. Just keep in mind this group is primarily focused on images. This rule might change in the future.

(WA) Lastly, the weekly projects can be almost anything the assigner wants. It can be "Something Green", "What makes you happy.", "Make a film noir comic strip.", or anything in-between. The main thing it to pick something fun, open to interpretation, and something that will foster creativity by being thought-provoking, challenging, or just plain weird.
Just try not to pick something that will force anyone to use a specific program. Having to stop and learn a new interface distracts from letting people have fun and being creative.

(DS) The Daily Studies should be more specific, as they are for practice. They should be things like "the human figure", "a tree", or "a split wine glass".

(SC) Scribble Cards are just for fun, no competition or due dates. You take (or make) the 500 by 500 pixel card and do whatever you want to it, as long as it's still 500x500 pixels when you're done. So just grab the card, pick (or make up) a theme, and doodle away. Turn it in whenever, make a bunch at once, make them smaller pieces to a large image, whatever you like.
You don't have to participate every week or in every activity to join. Just stop by once in a while when you have some free time. Of course, the point of this group is to practice and make stuff, so if you do join, please make an effort to participate. If you have any questions, refer to the FAQ or ask a Mod.
